My Experience in Doing Leader in Me by Davina Efka Alessandra
Hello! My name is Davina Efka Alessandra, I am 16 years old, and now I’m in grade 10 at Avicenna Jagakarsa high school. I knew Leader in Me and 7 Habits when I was a student at Avicenna High School. At first, I wasn’t familiar with the 7 Habits and Leader in Me. However, as time went on, I gradually understand and adopt the habits of the 7 habits. School’s environment and the people around me also support me to implement the 7 habits and Leader in Me. I feel that my teachers at school always support and provide a place to implement the 7 Habits and Leader in Me. Besides that, my friends who have implemented the 7 Habits and Leaders in Me have also encouraged me to follow these habits. Starting with having the courage to give my opinion and taking more initiative in doing something, so that I can learn how to have time management, problem solving, thinking carefully before doing something, and to determine what my priorities are. I feel that the Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) and Avicenna Student Research (ASR) activities really trained me to implement the 7 Habits.
In these activities I learn to think carefully before solving a problem or tasks. For example, during P5, my group was assigned to give a campaign about tolerance for 9 years old children. We have to think of the right way to give the campaign so they can understand and enthusiastic with our presentation. Eventually, my group and I chose to provide the material while playing games. Due to limited time, time management and determine which task I should prioritize is also important to complete the assigned tasks. During ASR, my group and I had very short time to have an observation, make reports, make infographics, do presentations, and also participate in many activities. That’s when we have to estimate and arrange the time so that everything can be completed on time.
Besides that, I learn to be more responsible. I always think that being responsible for the assigned task is very important. With that in mind, I always try to give my best whenever I am entrusted and assigned by other people. I realized this when there were ASR activities, every time I got a part in doing a task even though it looked difficult and frightened me, I would still give my best. For example, when some of my group members and I had to do a presentation about the results of our observations, at that time I was very anxious. At first, I felt unsure of my ability to present the results of our observations. But I am convinced myself and gave my best. In the end of the activity unexpectedly, I became the best participant in ASR activities! I believe that it can happen because of my sense of responsibility in carrying out the assigned tasks. Listening to each other’s opinions is equally important! During ASR and P5 activities I always worked in groups. Always seek other opinion will really help, by listening to the opinion of each member of the group we can bring lots of new ideas and variative ways of carrying out these activities. By applying the 7 Habits and also the Leader in Me give me a big beneficial impact. Not only for myself, but also for my environment. I can be more motivated, courageous, and also confident after learning about Leader in Me and 7 Habits.
